The Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg is the full name of Heidelberg University. It is a public research university that is situated in the German state of Baden-capital Württemberg’s city of Heidelberg. On the orders of Pope Urban VI, the university was founded in 1386. It is both one of the oldest still operating institutions in the world and the oldest university in Germany.
