The goal of the GOI foundation essay was to harness the enthusiasm, ingenuity, and initiative of young people in order to build the culture of peace and sustainable development. It also aims to motivate society to take cues from children on how to make the world a better place.

GOI Foundation for Peace

The GOI Peace Foundation is dedicated to advancing a stable and peaceful society by fostering the consciousness, values, and wisdom necessary to bring about peace, as well as by fostering collaboration between people and groups working in a variety of interdisciplinary fields, such as education, science, culture, and the arts.

The GOI Peace Foundation Essay Guidelines


The essay is divided into two age groups: youth (ages 15 to 25) and children (ages up to 14).

The minimum word count for essays submitted must be 700 in one of these six languages: English, French, Spanish, German, or Japanese. Essays can be printed or typed.

Online or postal mail entry submissions are also acceptable.

Essays must be unpublished and original. Entries that are plagiarized will be rejected.

There must be one essay writer. Essays written jointly are not accepted.

A Letter I’ll Write to Myself in 2030

Think about what a perfect world would look like in 7 years. Write a letter to your 2023 self from the year 2030 in which you discuss the situation of the globe, how people are living, and what you are doing to contribute to society. Include any significant advice you would like to give your present self.

Both online and mail submissions of the essay are acceptable.

A cover page containing your name, category, age, gender, country, address, email, phone number, school name (if applicable), essay title, language, and word count is required for entries sent by postal mail. Mail to:

To submit electronically, go to the GOI Peace website. The essay should be sent as a DOCX or PDF file with the applicant’s name, the essay title, and a cover page.

Awards


The first contestant will be given a gift and a certificate worth $900. First-place winners will receive the Minister of Education Award during the award event in Tokyo, Japan, in November 2023. (The event’s organizer will pay for travel costs.)

The second competitor will be awarded a certificate, $450, and a gift.

A certificate and gift will be given to the third contender.

On October 31, 2023 (Japan time), all prize winners will be revealed on this page. The winners will get presents and certificates in the mail in December 2023.

Entry submissions must be sent by June 15, 2023. (23:59 your local time).

International Peace Foundation


An international nonprofit organization called the Global Peace Foundation has as its stated goal to advance “an innovative, values-based approach to peacebuilding, driven by the vision of One Family under God.” In order to create and carry out initiatives like the Character and Creativity Education Initiative, Rivers of Peace Initiative, Rift Valley Peace Initiative, and All-Lights Village, GPF collaborates with government ministries, community and faith-based organizations, and United Nations agencies.

National Essay Contest for Peace


Students in high school in the United States are eligible to enter the national peace essay competition. This grant is also open to American citizens studying in high school abroad. At the time of application, students must be in grades nine through twelve. The following criteria must be met to enter the National Peace Essay Contest:

State winners who rank first receive $1,000 and are qualified to advance. For example, contend for $10,000, $5,000, and $2,500 in national prizes for first-, second-, and third-place finishes, respectively. Additionally, a free awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., is open to all first-place state winners in June. All prizes are given out annually and cannot be renewed. This scholarship will be worth a total of $10,000. The application must be submitted by March 15th.
